This has been a problem for almost 2 weeks now and It is driving me nuts! Who would have thought that POOP would become a big deal and take most of my time worrying.
Warning: If you are a Mom you’ll get me and sympathize but if not then you are reading the wrong post.

Here’s the story…
Seb did not poop for 10 days straight, as in nada a-a.
His diet stays the same: Breastmilk and porridge with vegetables and fruits (mashed).
So come day 6th we decided to go to the doctor and see what we could do. She prescribed Lilac, a Lactulose for 3x a day 2.5ml each time. But Seb hates it and just spit the super sticky, thick liquid (even I hate this stuff).
So we opted for natural ways instead. There’s the tummy clockwise and I love you massage and bicycle massage. We also gave him prune juice. But still nothing.
Until the 10th day where I gave in and just opted for the last resort which I really think is a savior, the suppository. Within just 10 minutes of pushing it in. Pooped out. I thought that was the end of it.
Come 3 days straight and nothing. So I fed him avocado and he did poop. I thought that was the end of it.
3 days interval and he did poop. I again pushed a suppository but this time there was a trace of blood in the poop and so I decided to again visit a new doctor. But the thing is, she prescribed the same thing which is the Lilac.
And so I visited another pedia. And she gave the baby a liquid laxative which is the Dulcolax SP 4ml 2x a day and she asked for an x-ray ( poor baby having to stay still, good thing he is not a cry baby). The result of the x-ray is that there are many poo inside. Backed up there and cannot descend as if there is a stopper in his butt😐 and so she increased the dosage to 5ml.
I do not want Seb to rely on suppository or medicines to poop so I went back to the basics and feed him papaya, an over riped papaya to be exact and gave him all sorts of tummy massage I found on Youtube.
Boy oh boy, when the baby strains and cry and scream bloody murder because of what I assume is the difficulty to pass such piece it really pains me, if only I could take away the pain. And so I tried to actually help him using my hand and oh lala after that piece which I assume is the stopper.
All things are back to normal. No more are the 3-2 days interval, he now goes everyday and with a very good consistency. Thank you very much.
This may have been too personal and TMI but I want to record this for future reference. It is a good thing that Seb had never loss appetite, become irritable during this almost close to a month struggle. Resulting to 3 different Pediatrician consultations and x-ray.
I thought of all the possible factors that may cause his constipation but I can only think of one. MY diet. Prior to his constipation I become addicted to a frap (coffee+chocolate flavor) to the point the I consume it daily and since he is EBF maybe the transfer? I do not know exactly if this is it.
But after watching my diet closely and returning to healthy eating, he did had a healthy bowel movement too. Lesson learned. The hard way.
So there goes my story. I really am a Mom now eh? Look at my post… all Seb and Mommy and Breastfeeding ooh! Embracing the #momlife

Yes, sickness is a real struggle to both baby and parents. I am glad that we have overcome this dilemma now. His digestion has been good ever since. Definitely a lesson learned. Thank you for reading my post.
I had the same issue with my son recently when he first started eating solid foods. Thankfully his only lasted about 4 days, but I agree with you it is SO hard to watch them cry and struggle with something they don’t understand. We tried so many methods to help things move along. I was shaking my head while reading your post thinking to myself “yup, hopefully never go through that again for a while”!
