Parents take on the most relentless and challenging work every single day.
The immense responsibility, constant worry mundane daily grind – it can give you panic attacks. That’s why Smart Parenting makes it a daily mission to become a mom’s guilt free guide to her greatest (and wildest) adventure that is parenting.
Last June 29, Smart Parenting added to the fun and rewarding experience of parenthood by holding its most-awaited event of the year, the “Smart Parenting Convention” at SM Megamall.
The event was co-presented by Nido, powered by PLDT Home Fibr, with minor sponsors Jack n’ Jill, 3M Nexcare Products and Ariel.
“We always get messages from our readers that we do SP Con for two days! They always tell us they love the shopping and super appreciate the talks,” said Leah Nemil-San Jose, editor in chief, Smart Parenting, the most credible source of pregnancy and pregnancy information Filipino moms count on.
The Smart Parenting Convention this year has more than 70 concessionaires offering special discounts and bundles.
Aside from games, raffle prizes, and booth activities, three blocks were divided into topics to help parents in taking on their role, whether preparing for a baby, recovering from delivery, raising a toddler, and many more.
Pregnancy and Baby Block
Childbirth Options and How to Prep for Delivery Day
Dr. Maynila Domingo
Expectant parents will not want to miss this! I want to know more about pregnancy and childbirth as we’re planning for a second baby when my toddler turns three. I was lucky to have a normal delivery but wanted to know about CS too just to be equipped with the right information.
The talk was full of helpful facts and tips, from the difference of delivery options, knowing the signs when to go to the hospital, tips for a healthy pregnancy, unang yakap, essential newborn care and the validation that no matter how we deliver either normal or CS does not make us less of a mother.
Postpartum Care
Dr. Sybil Bravo
This part is often forgotten or neglected by mothers as they have become too occupied of taking care of their newborn but it is as a priority too.
I love the discussion on lochia, postpartum return of our period, breastfeeding, wound care, postpartum hair loss remedies, the superstitions of binat and many more.
Baby Milestones and Red Flags to Watch Out for
Dr. Ina Atutubo
The detailed baby milestones are most helpful to worried parents like me. From gross and fine motor, socio-emotional skills and the most concern nowadays, language development. The controversial screen time usage by age was discussed too, making me pleased that I am on the right track with my toddler’s gadget exposure.
Baby Sleep Basics
Maria Campos Lopez
The situation, problem and solutions presented are doable, given the right mindset and will from parents and hopefully, child’s cooperation. I am eager to practice my learning here to my “most playful at bedtime” toddler.
Toddler Block
The Facts and the Curious: FAQs About Parenting Toddlers Answered by Experts
Dr. Maria Josephine Yuson-Sunga, Dr. Francis Xavier M. Dimalanta and Teacher Tina Zamora
Early Signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder
Ms. Mona Magnu-Valdez
Family Block
Why You Need a Marriage Makeover After Kids
Joy and Edric Mendoza
Digital Parenting
Dr. Michelle Alignay, RP, RGC
How to Create a Home First Aid Kit
Patricia Cuasay Fruto
The Smart Parenting Convention is truly the most awaited parenting event of the year. They have it all covered. The expert talks on top parenting topics, discounted baby products, and a gathering of smart dads and moms.
Aside from the parenting tips and learning, my most memorable takeaway is my new found mommy friends. Such parenting events are always a great venue to meet people to share our parenting moments with because they share the same things and experience too.
Thank you, Smart Parenting for giving us #SPCon2019 and Congratulations on this awesome event as always.
